Do department stores sell perfume sample sachets or give them for free?

I was shopping at Macy's. While the sales lady was scanning my items, I saw some perfume sample sachets on the counter, assumed they were free, and took one. Later I saw the very same samples being actually sold on ebay. However, are they free at department stores? Or did I just steal one? :/Do department stores sell perfume sample sachets or give them for free?
i think you probably have to pay, but i wouldnt worry too much, cuz if the alarm didnt go off, then its not your fault you had to pay for one. and if it was jsut a sample.. that would be pretty cheap if they made you pay. the point is dont lose sleep over it, if you feel like it is the right thing to do.. bring it back and talk to them about it...if not keep it an enjoy your sample of perfum.Do department stores sell perfume sample sachets or give them for free?
go back to the store, and ask how much it is and see if you have to pay for it. and i you feel bad for possibly stealing, donate some money to charity
A lot of places are selling them now, or giving you a piece of paper with the perfume sparyed on it for free. So...you're like maybe an outlaw now.
