Why do you sniff coffee when sampling perfume?

when trying perfumes you sniff coffee grounds in betweenWhy do you sniff coffee when sampling perfume?
it clears the nose so you can smell the next perfume without the former scent lingeringWhy do you sniff coffee when sampling perfume?
Th coffee cleans out your sinuses so that you can smell the perfume. It clears out the smell that you just had.
to clear the pallet, sniffing coffee will clear the last scent of perfume from your senses
wow, i always wondered why they had glasses of coffee beans on the perfume counter. I just though it was decoration.

thanks
to kill the sense of the previous fragrance... so you could better asses the new fragrance
the scent of the coffee beans is nothing like any of the ingredients in the perfumes (which are often similiar, just in different quantities) so that when you smell them it breaks up the strong potent smells. then when you smell the next perfume, you get the full effect. it ';cleanses'; your nasal passage the same way lemon would cleanse your palate between eating garlic bread and chocolate cake.
That doesnt happen to me
